As a Primary Stroke Center, ShorePoint Health Venice offers treatment from emergency care to rehabilitation, and features advanced evaluation, neuro-imaging, interventional neuroradiology and clot-dissolving treatments.
Prompt care is crucial in treating stroke patients. In the emergency department, our stroke care team is comprised of healthcare professionals from various specialties that utilize advanced technology to aid in improved outcomes, including minimally invasive clot-busting technology.
ShorePoint Health Venice is a Primary Stroke Center with an Advanced Certification for Primary Stroke Centers Gold Seal of Approval by The Joint Commission for 11 consecutive years, 2010 - 2021. The program has also been recognized with the American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines Stroke Target Stroke Honor Roll Elite Achievement Award, 2020.
At ShorePoint Health Venice, we offer:

Our 64-slice CT scanner provides rapid imaging of blood vessels in the brain, so doctors can begin treatment as quickly as possible.
Treatment
Our trained stroke care team delivers potentially life-saving care for ischemic and hemorrhagic strokes, and can perform minimally invasive treatment options, including:
- Angioplasty and stent placement to re-establish blood flow through blocked carotid arteries and veins
- Embolizing agents (clotting medications) delivered by catheter to stop blood flow resulting from hemorrhagic strokes (embolectomy/thrombolysis)
- Thrombolitic therapy to deliver clot-dissolving medicine to treat ischemic strokes
- Minimally invasive neurosurgery to remove a clot or repair arteries and veins
