Laboratory Services
At ShorePoint Health Venice, our testing and integrated medical records are a key part of our care. Our laboratory professionals manage everything from routine diagnostic tests and screenings to providing valuable information for doctors to develop care plans for complex disease.
ShorePoint Health Venice's laboratories are dedicated to quality service and patient-centered care. Our laboratories provide everything from blood bank services to a wide range of testing capabilities, including:
- Clinical chemistry
- Coagulation
- Hematology and immunohematology
- Immunology, immunochemistry and serology
- Microbiology and virology
- Urinalysis
We also offer advanced pathology services including:
- Cytology and cytopathology - The study of individual cell abnormalities, often used to diagnose cancer.
- Cytogenetics - Blood or bone marrow cell studies to examine chromosomal changes.
- Histology - The study of tissue under a microscope.
- Molecular diagnostics - DNA/RNA analysis studies.
- Surgical pathology - The study of tissues removed during a biopsy to help diagnose disease and determine treatment.
Tips for Your Visit
- Please wear a face covering at all times, and maintain social distance of 6 feet separation from other patients. COVID-19 screening is in progress.
- Only patients will be allowed. Special circumstances will be considered for those requiring assistance.
- Bring your insurance card and photo identification.
- Bring a signed lab order from your health care provider. Your order should include name, date of birth, social security number, tests needed, a diagnosis or ICD-9 code for each test and an authorized signature from your health care provider.
- Ask your health care provider to call or fax a lab order to the lab site of your choice.
- Fasting may be required. Please verify with your health care provider.
- Medicare patients may be asked to sign an Advance Beneficiary Notice wavier accepting financial responsibility if the diagnosis provided does not cover the tests ordered.
- Contact your health care provider for the results of your lab test.
