ShorePoint Health Venice has Broad Impact on Venice
4/18/2022
Over the course of a year, the impact of ShorePoint Health Venice adds up as the skilled and compassionate hands of physicians, nurses and other team members deliver quality care around the clock every day. Beyond clinical care, ShorePoint Health Venice is a major employer and regularly invests resources to expand and enhance the services available locally. The overall community benefit each year is significant and totaled $176 million in 2021.
Last year, the hospital and clinics delivered care during 295,000 patient encounters as the pandemic heightened the need for medical care. The hospital supported hundreds of COVID patients since March 2020 while sustaining all of its other medical services. In addition, healthcare access has been increased with the recruitment of 28 new physicians to our community.
“We provided quality care for patients with COVID and also for other members of our community who had a broad range of medical needs,” said Kelly Enriquez, Chief Executive Officer for ShorePoint Health Venice. Our community is truly fortunate to have this resilient and committed team of clinicians and caregivers here in Venice who make a difference for so many patients each day”.
Employees and medical staff brought their skills and compassion to support more than 23,900 emergency department visits, 7,700 inpatients, and performed 9,400 surgeries. Over 254,000 patients received outpatient care across ShorePoint Health Venice hospital and ShorePoint Medical Group.
ShorePoint Health Venice continues to grow and evolve as resources are directed toward increased medical services, facilities and technologies that are important to patients totaling a capital investment of more than $6.8 million. Over the past year, ShorePoint Health Venice has invested resources towards hospital renovations and continued modernization. The first phase of the project began last fall with the implementation of a new Electronic Medical Record and some infrastructure maintenance. ShorePoint Health Venice is currently in its second phase, which includes renovation of the ED, renovation of first floor corridors, full overhaul/modernization of elevators, relocation of the lab to within the main hospital, and other minor departmental moves.
As ShorePoint Health Venice works to continuously meet patients’ needs, it also gives back to the broader Venice region. ShorePoint Health Venice provided over $45 million in charity and uncompensated care for the community’s most vulnerable. And the $4.76 million paid in property, sales and GRT taxes helps support civic resources and services.
The hospital’s payroll of more than $106 million ripples across the local economy as employees buy goods and services.
Enriquez continued, “We are part of this community, and we are committed to doing all we can to provide excellent healthcare services and to making Venice a healthier, better community for all.”
