Dr. Hussein Mohamed Joins Gulf Coast Medical Group Surgery in Venice

(Venice, FL – September 10, 2021) – Venice Regional Bayfront Health is providing additional health care resources to Sarasota County, specifically for those with pancreas, gallbladder and liver conditions.
Board-certified surgeon Hussein Mohamed, M.D., FACS, has joined Gulf Coast Medical Group, bringing extensive experience in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical techniques for all aspects of liver and pancreatic cancer.
“I am excited to bring specialized surgical services that patients with life-threatening conditions previously had to travel to receive,” Dr. Mohamed said. “We offer the experience, knowledge and compassion to help patients understand their disease and options for treatment – with their support network nearby.”
Dr. Mohamed received his medical degree from Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt, and conducted residencies at Ain Shams University Hospitals and Medical University of South Carolina.
Fellowship-trained in both transplant and hepatobiliary (liver, bile duct, and/or gallbladder) surgery, Dr. Mohamed has instructed and consulted extensively on general surgery, abdominal transplantation and hepatobiliary surgery. He also is an advanced trauma life support instructor.
Before joining Gulf Coast Medical Group, Dr. Mohamed was chief of transplant and hepatobiliary surgery at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida. He enjoys biking, swimming and spending time with his family, and he resides with his wife and daughter in Venice.
